Nell Parker - Mecklenburg County PR Leader and Community Advocate

A resident of Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, Nell Parker built a dynamic career in public relations, combining agency leadership with corporate work. Active in her community in Mecklenburg County, Nell Parker has accumulated ample volunteer experience serving in youth, education, and church projects.

A public relations/marketing graduate of the University of Georgia, Ms. Parker began her career at Cohn & Wolfe, where she contributed to campaigns for clients including Coca-Cola and Marriott. She served 10 months as project manager for the San Diego Art’s Festival, a joint project by the City of San Diego, The San Diego Visitor’s Bureau, and several arts organizations.

Ms. Parker continued her career at Epley Associates, strengthening her skills in client service, event management, and business development while earning professional accreditation. She then co-founded McMullen-Parker Public Relations, quickly gaining four clients and playing a key role in introducing The Home Depot to the North Carolina market. She later took a position at The Home Depot, where she handled media relations, executive communications, and major store launches. Then, from 1996 to 1998, Ms. Parker was director of marketing communications at Transamerica Life Company.

Ms. Parker is skilled in event management, strategic communications planning, and community affairs. She has volunteered at several organizations, including Johnston YMCA where she was a board member leading capital campaigns and the annual golf tournament. She also served on committees at Myers Park High School, the parent advisory board of Alexander Graham Middle School, and the missions outreach committee of Myers Park United Methodist Church.
